The first locomotive with Thales ETCS (480 071) will be a part of an order of five locomotives from LTE placed in 2022. Upon delivery completion, LTE Rail Romania will have a fleet of 10 Softronic TransMontana locomotives made in Craiova from all sorts of versions. Their deliveries started in 2017.
The six-axle TransMontana locomotives have six asynchronous electric motors and a power output of 6 MW. It can operate under both European AC catenary systems – i.e. 15kV and 25kV. The total number of these TSI-certified locomotives will soon exceed 75.
