German electronic consumer electronics retailer, MediaMarktSaturn has partnered with LKW WALTER to make their supply chain more sustainable by rail.

To reduce their ecological footprint and contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions, MediaMarktSaturn has entered into a long-term partnership with LKW Walter. The retailer will use LKW Walter’s combined transport solution by using cranable semitrailers to cover long hauls by rail. According to figures, MediaMarktSaturn can save up to 919 kg of CO₂ emissions per transport and trailer by utilising this method, which LKW Walter has offered since the 1980s. It offers over 300 daily connections among all important European economic hubs.

Karsten Sommer, Managing Director of IMTRON GmbH, explained that the partnership with LKW WALTER is the next logical step for MediaMarktSaturn to reduce their ecological footprint and contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions further. Sommer emphasised that the two companies have attached great importance to the long-term nature of the partnership, recognising that climate protection requires long-term solutions.
