The route covers a distance of more than 1,300 kilometres and forms part of CargoBeamer’s domestic French network.

CargoBeamer has started a cooperation with Lineas for rail traction services on its domestic intermodal connection in France between Calais and Perpignan. Lineas has taken over traction responsibilities on the route from the beginning of this week.

The Calais–Perpignan service runs along a north–south axis across France, linking the Channel Tunnel area with the Mediterranean region and connections towards Spain.

The service is open to a range of intermodal loading units, including semi-trailers, containers and swap bodies. According to the operator, the rail connection offers a substantial reduction in CO₂ emissions compared with road transport for the same corridor.

Lineas will provide traction for the full length of the route. The Belgian-based operator is active in several European markets and supplies locomotive and driver services for intermodal and conventional freight traffic.
