The transaction is scheduled to close by the end of 2025.

DB Cargo has agreed to transfer the intermodal rail freight activities of Grupo Transfesa to Boluda Shipping, redefining its position in the Spanish logistics market. Following this change, Boluda claims it becomes the second-largest rail freight operator in Spain, after Renfe Mercancías.

Under the terms of the transaction, DB Cargo will retain responsibility for automotive logistics and international freight transport, while Boluda will absorb the domestic intermodal business. The scope of the deal includes rail services for industrial customers, terminal operations, shunting, and maintenance activities.

DB stated that this restructuring is part of a strategic shift to concentrate on cross-border freight flows and the automotive sector in Spain. Boluda will integrate the acquired operations into its broader intermodal logistics network on the Iberian Peninsula.
