The launch of this rail link is one of several recent initiatives on the Polish market focused on linking inland logistics hubs with ports using rail transport as an alternative to long-distance trucking.

A new intermodal rail link between Łódź and Gdynia has been launched. The connection, operated in cooperation by Ellerman City Liners, Spedcont, and Bahnoperator, started regular service on June 25, 2025.

Route and operational setup

The service connects the Spedcont terminal in Łódź with the Gdynia Container Terminal (GCT). It is intended to support inland transport and short sea shipping flows, particularly for cargo moving between Poland and the United Kingdom. The participating companies emphasize regularity and speed as key elements of the service.

Logistics partnership

The new corridor is the result of cooperation between Spedcont, Bahnoperator, and Ellerman City Liners. The inland connection supplements Ellerman’s existing maritime services operating from Gdynia, strengthening rail-sea integration for containerised cargo.
