The regular service is scheduled to commence today, 1 July 2025.

Container Terminal Mostyska (CTM) plans to restart piggyback transport on the Mostyska–Forst route between Ukraine and Germany.

Service structure and operations

The connection will operate as a joint effort by LION Group, Nunit, and GOL. The route is planned to be served by a weekly train with two round trips per week between the terminals in Mostyska and Forst near Cottbus.

The transport concept involves the use of 100 semi-trailers moving in three continuous logistics cycles: loading, transit, and unloading. The average transit time is expected to be around 20 hours, including the cross-border procedures.

Piggyback transport in the corridor

The relaunch of the service follows broader efforts to establish multimodal transport options connecting Ukraine with the European Union. The piggyback system on this route is set to handle a range of cargo types, using rail transport for the main corridor and road transport for the initial and final segments.

The companies involved present piggyback transport as a method that could shorten delivery times and contribute to regular flows, while also using the rail sector’s potential to reduce the use of long-distance road haulage.
