Crossrail Benelux will operate under the new name BLS Cargo Nord starting 1 September 2025. The company, currently responsible for running BLS Cargo trains through Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, will adopt a uniform brand identity under the "BLS Cargo" name.
The renaming follows the launch of a transformation programme initiated by BLS Cargo at the end of 2024. The focus of this internal programme is to align cross-border processes within the BLS Cargo Group in order to reduce complexity in operations and standardise procedures across national subsidiaries.
BLS Cargo Nord will continue its current role as a production company managing international rail freight between Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. The transition does not involve changes in service routes or responsibilities.
Since its acquisition in 2019, Crossrail Benelux has been fully owned by BLS Cargo. In 2024, the company operated nearly 10,000 freight trains under the BLS Cargo brand, reflecting a 46% increase compared to its activity level at the time of the acquisition.
The name change consolidates the group's corporate presence under a unified logo and visual identity. All entities within the BLS Cargo Group will now operate under the same brand. The company has not indicated changes to staffing, infrastructure, or fleet allocation as part of the renaming process.
The transition to the new name and brand identity will take effect on 1 September 2025. Existing operations across the three countries are set to continue under the BLS Cargo operational structure.
