A new rail freight service operated between Montoir-de-Bretagne and Le Havre during the night of 8 to 9 April 2025.

The train, resulting from cooperation between Normandie Rail Services and NAVILAND CARGO, completed its inaugural journey between the two French ports.

The service is part of a logistical operation involving multiple stakeholders, including Nantes-Saint Nazaire Port, SOCORAIL, SNCF Réseau, and the Terminal du Grand Ouest (TGO). Each of these entities played a role in enabling the rail connection between the western French seaboard and the northern port of Le Havre.

The route is expected to support maritime logistics by strengthening inland rail links between port infrastructures. NAVILAND CARGO, known for its activity in intermodal transport, is contributing its experience in container handling and long-distance freight movement.

Montoir-de-Bretagne, situated in the Loire-Atlantique department, forms part of the Nantes-Saint Nazaire port complex. The departure from this location indicates growing utilization of its rail terminal capacities. Le Havre, connected via this service, is one of France’s major container ports with established rail connectivity to national and international destinations.
