RCG’s rail logistics operations have facilitated the movement of more than 200 ingots, totalling 10,000 tonnes of stainless steel.

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) continues to transport stainless steel ingots for Breitenfeld Edelstahl, moving heavy loads from Mitterdorf-Veitsch to Italy. Since 2022, these ingots, each weighing over 40 tonnes, have been shipped using specially developed loading frames designed for rail transport.

The shift from road to rail has resulted in a reduction of 347 tonnes of CO2 emissions compared to truck transport. To support growing volumes, RCG and Breitenfeld Edelstahl plan to equip additional wagons and expand transport capacity along the Austria-Italy corridor.
