The agreement specifies the delivery of 300 wagons in the first four years, with an option for an additional 300 wagons in the following four-year period.

Infrabel has entered into a contract with Millet AFR to acquire up to 600 Open Box wagons over the next eight years.

The new wagons are intended to replace approximately 900 flat wagons currently used by Infrabel for transporting ballast. With a significantly higher load capacity, the Open Box wagons will enable Infrabel to carry out its operations using fewer locomotives.

This shift to more efficient rolling stock is expected to optimize Infrabel's maintenance activities. By reducing the number of trains needed for transporting materials, the company aims to improve network capacity utilization, which could be advantageous for other rail operators. Additionally, operating fewer locomotives may contribute to environmental goals by decreasing overall emissions.
