27 container wagons manufactured by the General Directorate of TÜRASAŞ, affiliated to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, have been delivered to the General Directorate of Transport of TCDD. The wagons, manufactured by the Turkish Rail System Vehicles Industry Joint Stock Company (TÜRASAŞ) in Eskişehir with domestic and national resources, will be used mainly for container transport. They can load two 40-foot containers and carry a total load of up to 108 tonnes.
A total of 200 wagons will be produced this year, manufactured and registered per TSI (Technical Specifications for Interoperability) standards, allowing them to be used internationally.
“200 units will be produced in 2025 and 480 in 2026. Wagons nicknamed Sgggrs (freight transport wagons) are in high demand in railway transportation both at home and abroad. Wagons, which are produced entirely domestically and nationally from design to production, are preferred in combined freight transportation due to their high load carrying capacity and ease of transfer. Thanks to its short design, more wagons can be connected to a train series, thus enabling more efficient train operation,” emphasized the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
