LTG Cargo, the freight forwarding company of the LTG Group, is the first railway company in the Baltic States to choose the Western waybill data transmission solution, normally used by European standard gauge (1435 mm) carriers, for the transport of goods on the wide gauge (1520 mm).
The CIM is a consignment note in a prescribed form for the international carriage of goods (cargo) by rail, recognised and used in the European railway system.
"We are consistently striving for full integration with Europe - in terms of business relations, infrastructure and technology. As the volume of freight transport to the West continues to grow, we in the LTG Group are constantly looking for ways to adapt the solutions used in the West to the wide (1520 mm) railway gauge. The Orfeus solution will enable us both to strengthen our integration with the West and to improve our freight transport services - the provision of consignment notes will be automated, which will reduce the time needed for document preparation and the likelihood of human error," says Gediminas Šečkus, LTG's Business Resilience Director.
In March, Group company LTG Cargo signed an agreement with the International Union of Railways, a global association of railway industry representatives based in Paris. The contract signed with the International Union of Railways will allow the company to use the Orfeus system. Preparatory work has already begun. It is planned that the LTG Group company will start using the system in the last quarter of this year, once all the necessary preparatory work has been completed.
