Kombiverkehr KG has announced the expansion of its offerings with a new train service connecting Rotterdam, Netherlands, and Köln-Eifeltor, Germany. The Rotterdam-Köln-Eifeltor train will play a key role in facilitating a smoother, faster, and more efficient transport of goods across Europe, promising fast transfers and a comprehensive reach to key destinations.
The service was launched on 12 March, with the first train departing from Rotterdam and completing its journey to Cologne-Eifeltor within twelve hours. The train will operate in both directions on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and aims to provide a reliable and fast solution for moving goods. The service terminates at the Rail Service Centre (RSC) in Waalhaven, Rotterdam, ensuring smooth transfers to nearby port areas. Customers also have the option to book additional transfers from the continental RSC terminal to further streamline their logistics operations.
One of the features of this new service is its compatibility with P400 loading units, allowing for a wide range of intermodal transport options. In addition, it is designed to accommodate all classes of dangerous goods, except Class 7, broadening the range of cargoes that can be transported via this route.
Andrea de Ambrogi, Head of Sales Benelux at Kombiverkehr, highlighted the strategic importance of Köln-Eifeltor as one of the company's largest hub terminals in Germany. The terminal offers extensive options for onward transport both within Germany and internationally, including connections to Munich, Ulm, Kornwestheim, and Basel, as well as international services to and from countries such as Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Turkey, and Greece.
