The agreements will focus on enhancing the marine and logistics sectors, with particular emphasis on railway development.

Dubai and Pakistan will advance their logistics cooperation, as revealed in the recent Inter-Governmental Framework Agreements signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

DP World will act on behalf of the Dubai Government, while state-run Pakistan Railways and Port Qasim Authority will act on behalf of the Pakistan Government, for the development of the projects.

Central to this development is the establishment of a Dedicated Freight Corridor in Pakistan. This new corridor is set to extend from Karachi Port to the Pipri Marshalling Yard, covering a distance of about 45 kilometres. It is anticipated that this initiative will help the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of freight transportation in the region, greatly reducing transport times.

The project will be a collaborative effort between Pakistan Railways and DP World. Pakistan Railways, operating a vast network across the country, is integral to this development. The creation of the freight corridor is expected to significantly improve rail connectivity and logistics capacity, keeping up with the growing demand for efficient freight services in Pakistan.

Additionally, the agreements cover the development of an economic zone at Port Qasim in Karachi. This project will likely stimulate economic growth and increase rail freight traffic, as the zone develops into a commercial hub.
