Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) has launched a tender for the design and construction of a 6 km rail tunnel and underground station beneath the new airport.

Poland’s Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) has announced a tender for the design and construction of an underground tunnel and rail station beneath the new airport being built in central Poland. Applications are open until 12 December 2025, with contract awards planned for early 2027 and completion in 2031.

The tunnel, running east–west under the terminal, will measure around 6 km with a volume of 3.5 million m³, carrying railway lines 5, 85 and 88 to connect the airport directly with Warsaw, Łódź, Katowice and Gdańsk.

According to Maciej Lasek, Government Plenipotentiary for CPK and Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, the project seeks "a contractor experienced in large-scale tunnelling and infrastructure projects in Poland." The tender is divided into two parts: one covering the eastern and central sections and the station, and the other the western section and junction area.

The underground infrastructure will form part of high-speed line 85, linking CPK with Warsaw and Łódź, and will open by 2032. The rest of the national “Y” high-speed network—connecting Łódź to Wrocław and Poznań—is expected by 2035.
