The planned site is intended to support the growing fleet of Traxx Universal locomotives operating across Poland and the Eastern European corridor.

Alstom has signed a letter of intent with DB Cargo Polska to establish a new locomotive maintenance facility in Rybnik, southern Poland.

The Rybnik centre would complement Alstom’s existing service hub in Toruń, expanding its local capabilities in rolling stock maintenance. This move reflects an increase in demand for support services from operators investing in energy-efficient locomotives for intermodal and international freight transport.

Over the past two years, Alstom has secured orders for 61 third-generation Traxx Universal locomotives in Poland. The fleet includes units for operators such as OnTrain (40 units), CLIP Intermodal (18), and Captrain Polska (3). Production takes place at Alstom’s site in Kassel (Germany), with car bodies manufactured in Wrocław (Poland).

The Rybnik facility would strengthen Alstom’s service capacity in a region experiencing rising volumes of cross-border freight traffic. DB Cargo Polska, which already operates a modern repair centre in the city, is expected to support the facility’s operations.
