Banedanmark, the Danish state-owned railway infrastructure manager, will have a new CEO starting February 1, 2025.

Peter Jonasson, currently serving as the Deputy Managing Director and Plant Director, will assume the position, bringing extensive leadership experience and familiarity with the organization to the role.

Jonasson has been part of Banedanmark’s management team for several years, previously holding the position of Chief Financial Officer before transitioning to his current responsibilities. His appointment follows the departure of Hakon Iversen, who will move on to a role as Industry Director at DI Transport.

The transition comes at a time when Denmark’s railway system is undergoing significant changes, including ongoing electrification efforts, infrastructure upgrades, and modernization projects. These initiatives aim to ensure that the railway continues to serve as a key part of the country’s transportation network.

As CEO, Jonasson is expected to focus on maintaining the current momentum of Banedanmark’s projects while managing its long-term objectives. Key areas include operational management, infrastructure renewal, and ensuring punctuality, which remain integral to the company’s strategy.
