Technology promises to improve safety and efficiency in monitoring and assessing non-standard freight movements.

D/Gauge Ltd (part of the TÜV Rheinland Group) and Cordel Group PLC (AIM: CRDL) have been awarded a further contract by the US railroad G&W to revolutionize clearance assessment. The contract will cover G&W's Upper Midwest and Great Lake divisions. The contract, which will enable G&W to safely monitor its network and assess the movement of high and wide loads, offers a significant technical return on investment.

The software and hardware package will enable the scanning and storage of network-wide structural survey data, and the automated calculation and reporting of clearance information for the entire network. Utilizing Cordel's "Cordel Rugged" solution, the automated, portable survey system will capture and store data in "Cordel Connect", Cordel's proprietary rail data platform. This data set will be used to perform clearance calculations. These calculations are used to assess the viability of large and unusual load movements.

“We are thrilled to provide this cutting-edge clearance software, which will revolutionize the analysis and investigation of moving high-and-wide loads. Our innovative solution ensures the safe assessment of unique, non-standard revenue-generating freight, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the industry,” said Colin Johnson, Managing Director of D/Gauge.
