According to MEDWAY, each locomotive has the potential to replace around 50 heavy trucks from the road network.

MEDWAY Transports and Logistics Belgium has introduced its first two owned Siemens Vectron locomotives. The handover is part of a framework agreement for 15 units with an associated maintenance package.

MEDWAY plans to deploy them on freight services from Antwerp to destinations across Europe.

The contract includes an eight-year maintenance arrangement. The work will be carried out at the NMBS-SNCB Antwerpen-Noord workshop, supported by Siemens Mobility’s Railigent X digital platform for condition monitoring.

MEDWAY is already using this type of locomotives, yet they are leased from Beacon Rail
