The 30th Siemens Desiro diesel multiple unit has completed its R9 capital overhaul at Electroputere VFU Pașcani.
The R9 overhaul involves a full disassembly and inspection of all subassemblies, with components either repaired or replaced, excluding the engine. The process includes updates to the air conditioning, braking, and power supply systems, alongside interior modifications such as new upholstery and a refreshed passenger environment. The exterior has also undergone bodywork repairs and repainting.
The programme covers 50 CFR Călători Desiro units that have been in service for over 14 years. The work is being carried out to bring the railcars in line with current operational and passenger expectations, with modifications aimed at ensuring continued serviceability.
Electroputere VFU Pașcani, a member of Grampet Group, continues to manage the overhaul process, with additional units expected to follow.
