Passenger rail services in the Île-de-France region will see further changes in 2026, with adjustments to service levels and continued fleet renewal on several corridors.

Service increases are planned on a number of suburban rail routes operated under the Transilien and RER brands. Adjustments are expected on RER lines B, C, and D, as well as on Transilien line H. These changes are intended to address capacity needs on sections experiencing sustained demand growth.

Fleet renewal on the suburban and regional rail network will continue during 2026. A total of 156 new or refurbished trainsets are planned to enter service across the Île-de-France rail network, including RER and suburban services.

On RER line E, 60 RER NG trainsets are scheduled for delivery. Their introduction is expected to allow the withdrawal of MI2N double-deck trains by the final quarter of 2026.

On Transilien line R, seven Régio 2N double-deck trainsets are planned to enter service, with the objective of improving operational reliability and service quality on the route.

Paper tickets are planned to be withdrawn from suburban and regional rail services in Île-de-France in June 2026. From that point, paper tickets will no longer be valid on RER and Transilien train services. Studies on the introduction of bank card validation on the rail network are expected to be published by April 2026, alongside ongoing work on the dematerialisation of season tickets and interregional rail travel media.
