PKP Intercity and PKP Cargo have signed a letter of intent concerning the employment of PKP Cargo staff. This program, starting in the second half of 2024, offers jobs for up to 400 individuals. Positions will include roles in transportation processes as well as the maintenance and repair of rolling stock.
Starting in July, PKP Intercity will begin recruiting PKP Cargo employees for various positions related to transportation operations, maintenance, and repair of trains. Additionally, there will be opportunities for traction teams to join PKP Intercity. The company promises stable working conditions at its facilities located in Krakow (Southern Division), Poznan (Western Division), Gdynia (Northern Division), and Warsaw (Central Division).
Following the recruitment of 300 PKP Cargo employees by Polregio, this is the second passenger rail company in Poland benefitting from the current PKP Cargo crisis, solving its shortage of staff problems.
Further employment programs are planned to support staff in maintaining uninterrupted career paths within non-competing entities.
As the national rail carrier, PKP Intercity is focused on providing passengers with convenient connections, comfortable trains, and safe travel. Integrating experienced PKP Cargo employees into PKP Intercity's workforce is expected to support these goals.
PKP Intercity is Poland's largest railway operator, facilitating travel between major cities and popular tourist destinations, connecting smaller towns with metropolitan areas, and providing accessible travel across Europe. The carrier experienced sharp increases in ridership and is expanding its passenger services to increase the availability of train seats, positioning rail transport as the preferred choice for travelers.
