The night trains popularity expands beyond Europe, reaching Asia.

Starting June 15, a new EMU Sleeper Train service will operate between Hong Kong West Kowloon station and the major Chinese cities of Beijing and Shanghai. This service, running from Friday to Monday nights, offers passengers a convenient overnight journey, allowing them to arrive at their destination early the next morning.

Currently, the train services of MTR between Hong Kong and Beijingxi Station, as well as Shanghai Hongqiao Station, operate only during daytime hours. The introduction of the EMU Sleeper Train provides a new option for those who prefer to travel overnight. Passengers can board the train in the evening and wake up at their destination, effectively using their travel time while they sleep.

The new service includes sixteen cars per train, accommodating around 600 passengers. The train composition consists of thirteen sleeper cars, one dining car, and two second-class seating cars. For the Shanghai route, there is also a premium sleeper car available. This setup is designed to provide comfort during the overnight journey, with sleeping arrangements and meal options for passengers.

The addition of the EMU Sleeper Train to the high-speed rail network is a response to the increasing demand for efficient and flexible travel options. It offers a new way to travel long distances across China, combining the convenience of overnight travel with the speed and efficiency of high-speed rail. For passengers looking to optimize their travel time and arrive at their destination ready to start their day, the EMU Sleeper Train provides a suitable and timely solution.
