Passengers travelling on the West Coast Main Line experienced major disruptions on 25 November 2024 between Milton Keynes and Rugby due to severe flooding from Storm Bert.

Trains through Northampton station have been suspended after the River Nene burst its banks, causing extensive flooding on the railway and in the surrounding area.

Network Rail is working with London Northwestern Railway and Avanti West Coast to operate a reduced service, diverting trains away from Northampton. Engineers are monitoring water levels and assessing damage to tracks and signalling equipment, anticipating that disruptions will continue throughout the day.

With local roads also affected by flooding, rail replacement buses are currently not available, posing additional challenges for commuters.
