An ASEAN freight rail link between Cambodia and Thailand launched

Cambodian Royal Railway Pls plans to extend the link to Laos and Vietnam in a later stage, currently operating on a trial basis.


Royal Railway from Cambodia and Thai firm Global Multimodal Logistics launched the primary freight railway link between the companies, planning for further expansion in the future. The inaugurating train went from Thailand to Phnom Peng in Cambodia, transporting petroleum products in containers.

The railway link will proceed on a case-by-case basis, with the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) being the counterpart on the Thai side. Although the train was initially oriented on imports to Cambodia, stakeholders evaluate the use of this link to use it for rice exports to China in the future.
