The project involves the construction of a 4.4-kilometer single-track section on the Iberian gauge, with the aim of improving port activities and boosting freight traffic in the Bay of Cádiz.

In collaboration with Adif, Thales has been awarded a contract worth 7.29 million Euros for the development of a 4.4-kilometer single-track section on the Iberian gauge. This project is part of a wider strategic plan to strengthen the Seville-Cádiz railway line and promote efficient freight operations in the region.

The importance of the project lies in its potential to boost freight traffic and catalyze port activity in the Gulf of Cadiz, Spain. Thales has been entrusted with the design and implementation of the civil engineering project, which will provide a seamless connection between Las Aletas station in Puerto Real and the port of Bajo de la Cabezuela in Cádiz.

As part of the contract, Thales will oversee the design, definition, project development, and implementation of important components such as traffic management, signalling, security measures, and fixed and mobile telecommunications infrastructure. The project also includes the implementation of new rail safety systems and the installation of advanced equipment for the ERTMS N1 train protection system on the La Cabezuela branch line and the Sevilla-Santa Justa CTC. The investment in this technology and infrastructure is expected to increase freight transport efficiency and boost economic growth.
