Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has just secured 9.5 million tonnes of cargo shipments for voestalpine plants, both for raw materials and finished goods, until the end of 2025.

RCG will continue being the partner for voestalpine’s Linz steel plant for two more years. The extended partnership among RCG, voestalpine and its logistics branch LogServ was signed on 13.6.2023.

Rail Cargo Group will be responsible for the transport of iron ore, hot briquetted iron, coke, coal and scrap transports into the voestalpine plants in Linz and Leoben-Donawitz, and the transport of finished products, such as coils, heavy plates, and sheets from Linz.

Existing transport volumes will increase, and the carrier also establishes a new route for transporting ore and coke in addition to the route from the port of Koper. The new route will originate in Italian Mediterranean ports, and RCG will handle the transport in-house by using Rail Cargo Carrier Italia.
