The new service is operated in cooperation with DP World. Rail traction is provided by Budamar Group locomotives deployed for Kombinovani prevoz, which is part of the Budamar Group.
Departures from Novi Sad are scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 20:00, with arrival in Herne at 18:00 on Thursdays, Saturdays and Mondays respectively. The service is designed for cranable trailers and is integrated into LKW Walter’s European combined transport network. The company states that the route can reduce CO₂ emissions by 79.5%, equivalent to 1,296 kg per transport unit, compared with road-only haulage.
The Herne terminal provides connections to western and northern Europe, including the Benelux countries, the UK and Scandinavia. Novi Sad serves as a gateway for Serbia and neighbouring Southeast European markets.
LKW Walter operates more than 15,000 cranable trailers and offers GPS tracking across its combined transport services. The rail-based solution allows payloads of up to 28 tonnes and avoids driving bans during night-time, weekends and public holidays.
