The collaboration includes a series of direct domestic and international freight corridors designed to shift highway cargo to rail.

BNSF and CSX have introduced new intermodal service products aimed at linking the western and eastern U.S. rail networks. This follows the recently announced merger of Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern, which created the first coast-to-coast freight railroad in the United States.

New domestic intermodal connections will link Southern California to Charlotte, North Carolina, and Jacksonville, Florida. Another service will connect Phoenix, Arizona, with Atlanta, Georgia, offering an option for road-to-rail conversion on this corridor.

For international intermodal flows, BNSF and CSX will now offer direct rail connections between the Port of New York and New Jersey and Norfolk, Virginia, with Kansas City.

On the infrastructure side, two new 10,000-foot sidings between Phoenix and Flagstaff are being added. These will support train movements on the BNSF Southern Transcon route.
