Rail freight at Valencia port exceeds 1.2 million tonnes in first half of 2025

Rail now accounts for over 8% of the port’s total land traffic.

Between January and June 2025, Valenciaport moved 1,221,014 tonnes of goods by rail, equivalent to 131,795 TEUs.

Container volumes moved by rail increased by 12% compared to the same period in 2024, while the tonnage rose by 18%. Direct rail entries and exits to the port reached 26,382 TEUs and 242,968 tonnes.

Ten operators currently manage rail connections between the Port of Valencia and inland logistics hubs in Madrid, Valladolid, Bilbao, and Zaragoza, which handle most of the rail-port traffic.
