Following rail transport, the cargo completed the final delivery leg to the ELVAL production plant in Oinofyta by truck.

Two block trains recently transported a total of forty-eight 40-foot flat rack containers carrying overweight aluminium slabs, each weighing around 29 metric tons, from the Port of Piraeus to the customs area at Oinoi, Boeotia.

PEARL coordinated the rail shipments, while traction was provided by Hellenic Train. Transcombi Express was the cargo recipient, acting on behalf of ELVAL. Freight forwarding company Viexal organized and oversaw the complete transport chain.

This rail transport arrangement aimed to use rail logistics for most of the inland journey, reducing reliance on heavy-duty trucks and thus minimizing road congestion and emissions. The cargo originated from maritime shipping services and was transferred to rail transport upon arrival in Piraeus.

Earlier this month, another block train with twenty similar containers completed the same route. This transport marked the initial implementation of this logistics solution from the Port of Piraeus directly to Oinoi, destined for Oinofyta.

Further similar rail transports are anticipated to continue supporting the movement of industrial goods within Greece.
