With a team of ten employees, Red Deer Railway serves customers in the energy industry.

Genesee & Wyoming (G&W) has started operations on Red Deer Railway Limited (RDR), its first railroad in western Canada. The railway stretches from Jackson to Homeglen in Alberta and utilizes operating rights over Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) lines from Red Deer to Chigwell and Prentiss.

RDR offers a direct interchange with CPKC in Red Deer, connecting to the North American freight-rail network. The railway provides services such as railcar storage, railcar-to-truck transloading, and railcar switching.

The assets and operating rights for RDR were acquired from CPKC as part of a previously announced transaction between G&W and CPKC. G&W's Canadian operations also include ten other railroads, Railcare in Hamilton, Ontario, and BMS Locomotive Service Group in Edmonton, Alberta.
