Ukrzaliznytsia’s subsidiary, UZ Cargo Poland, has reached an agreement with Rail Cargo Hungaria to work on increasing the volume of rail freight transportation between Ukraine and Hungary. This collaboration, formalized through a memorandum signed during the InnoTrans exhibition in Berlin, aims to enhance both intermodal and conventional rail freight traffic between the two countries.
The partnership focuses on improving cross-border rail connections, particularly through the Batyovo-Eperjeske and Zahony-Chop border crossings, with plans to optimize the use of both European and broad-gauge wagons. Among the key objectives is to streamline cargo flows, improve efficiency, and customer service for freight movement between Ukraine and EU member states.
Both parties will also work on adjusting transportation methods and tariff calculations to ensure more smooth freight services. This initiative is part of a broader plan to accommodate a forecasted increase in freight volumes between Ukraine and the EU in the coming years.
