METRANS has expanded its rail service offerings by introducing a new train route between Poland and Ukraine. The service, launched during the European Eastern holidays, operates between Medyka, Poland, and Mostyska, Ukraine. This route is part of an initiative to establish regular rail connections between European cities and Ukrainian destinations such as Kiev and Odessa. HHLA operates Terminal CTO in these Ukrainian cities.
The collaboration between METRANS and Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) along with the Ukrainian Intermodal Company (UIC), a part of the HHLA group, has facilitated this new rail service. The route aims to improve the logistics of cargo transport to and from Ukraine.
The regular service is planned to run between METRANS's terminal in Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland, and Mostyska in Ukraine, supporting further cargo distribution within Europe and Ukraine. This initiative follows the previously established connections that METRANS has been operating since 2022 across the Slovak/Ukrainian border, transporting various types of cargo in both directions.
