Gianpiero Strisciuglio has been appointed CEO and General Manager of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group for the 2026-2028 term.
The new Board of Directors of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane consists of Tommaso Tanzilli, Gianpiero Strisciuglio, Pietro Bracco, Franco Fenoglio, Silvia Marzot, Loredana Ricciotti and Daniela Rota.
Strisciuglio graduated with honours in Transport Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Bari and holds a second-level master’s degree from Parthenope University of Naples. He has been a member of the National Council of Engineers since 2001.
His career within FS Italiane has covered infrastructure, passenger operations and logistics. From 2013 to 2014, he was responsible for Planning and Service Development at Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, before serving as RFI Commercial and Operations Director from 2014 to 2017.
From 2017 to 2018, Strisciuglio led Trenitalia’s Long Haul Passenger Division. He then served as Director of Strategy, Industrial Planning, Innovation and Sustainability at Mercitalia Logistics from 2018 to April 2022.
In April 2022, he became CEO and General Manager of Mercitalia Logistics, now FS Logistix, a role he held until May 2023. He returned to RFI as CEO and General Manager from May 2023 to March 2025, where his mandate included PNRR-funded railway network modernisation projects.
From March 2025 to July 2026, Strisciuglio served as CEO and General Manager of Trenitalia. During that period, Trenitalia launched the new-generation Frecciarossa 1000 and continued fleet renewal activities.
Strisciuglio has also served as Special Commissioner for the Rome railway ring. He is President of AGENS, the Confindustria-affiliated transport and services agency, President of CIFI, the Italian College of Railway Engineers, and Vice President of Federturismo Confindustria.
