CFO Arnold Schiefer moves to the private sector in Upper Austria. The position of CFO of ÖBB-Holding AG will be publicly advertised in December.

The current CFO of ÖBB, Arnold Schiefer, has informed the supervisory board that he will not be available for another period because he will follow the call to the private sector. Schiefer has agreed to ensure an orderly handover to his successor in 2023.

Andrea Reithmayer, ÖBB-Holding Supervisory Board President: "Mr. Schiefer has informed me that he is not available for another period on the Board. We regret this and respect Arnold Schiefer's wish for a career change. With his dedication and expertise, he has contributed to the positive development of the ÖBB Group in all his management functions and, as Chief Financial Officer, has led ÖBB in a stable and forward-looking manner through the years marked by the pandemic and the energy crisis. The Presiding Committee of the Supervisory Board agreed today to set the course for an orderly handover at an early stage, so that the position of CFO will be advertised before the end of December 2022. We want to find the best successor for ÖBB as early as possible".

Arnold Schiefer (55) has been a member of the board of ÖBB-Holding AG since 1 April 2019. Born in Upper Austria, he worked for the ÖBB Group for a total of 12 years: After heading the "Road" group and the "Infrastructure and Transport" section at the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit), he took over the overall project management of the construction of Vienna Central Station in 2005. In 2006, he moved to the Management Board of ÖBB-Infrastruktur Betrieb AG as CFO and Spokesman of the Management Board, and in 2009 he became Director of the Management Board of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG, which was later merged. After a year in restructuring management, Schiefer moved to Rail Cargo Hungaria in 2011 and the Management Board of ÖBB Rail Cargo Austria AG in 2012. In 2013, he left the ÖBB Group to accompany ALPINE HOLDING in its insolvency, and from 2015 to 2019 he was a member of the board of HETA Asset Resolution AG.

Arnold Schiefer, CFO of ÖBB: "I would like to thank the employees and the company for the good cooperation, am of course available for an orderly handover and am already looking forward to my new task in Upper Austria."

Schiefer's appointment as a member of the ÖBB Board of Management would have regularly run until 31 March 2024.
