Wabtec Corporation has opened its new production facility in Rohtak, India. The facility will initially manufacture transit rail components and subsystems, with plans to diversify into other Wabtec product lines in the coming years, and represents an $18 million investment.

“India is an important growth market for Wabtec, especially for the transit business. The new site will further improve Wabtec's ability to deliver enhanced value through our diverse product offerings for both Indian and global customers,” said Pascal Schweitzer, President - Transit Business.

The 10,000 square meter facility will initially manufacture axle-mounted disc brake systems, distribution valves, calipers, actuators, and friction materials for freight, metro and locomotive applications. This campus is expected to house many products serving the rail, mining and industrial segments in the coming months and years.

Wabtec's Transit business in India, through its manufacturing facilities in Hosur and Rohtak, provides diverse solutions including braking, couplings, current collectors, relaying, air conditioning, passenger access doors and friction solutions. It also includes engineering and service support to Wabtec's global operations through its large engineering presence in Hosur and Bengaluru.
