With this addition, Progress Rail will maintain 90 GT38AC locomotives for PT KAI.

Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company, has entered into a new Maintenance Services Agreement (MSA) with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) to maintain 35 EMD® GT38AC locomotives. These locomotives, delivered in 2022, are used for transportation services in South Sumatra.

The six-year contract covers a major overhaul of the 35 units and includes both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance parts. Additionally, PT KAI will benefit from 24/7 technical support at various locations, ensuring continuous operational efficiency.

This MSA is the third agreement between Progress Rail and PT KAI for the CC205 class locomotives. The initial contract was signed in September 2013 for 50 GT38ACs and later expanded to cover 55 locomotives. In 2020, another six-year MSA was established, encompassing bogie overhauls and a comprehensive 12-year overhaul of the locomotives.

This ongoing collaboration aims to improve the technical skills of PT KAI's workforce through continued engagement with Progress Rail's expertise.
