PKP Intercity transported 89.2 million passengers in 2025, up 13.8% year on year, and plans to reach 96 million in 2026.
In 2024, PKP Intercity carried 78.5 million passengers. The expanded offer includes more frequent EIP and EIC express services and IC and TLK economy trains on core domestic corridors linking Warsaw, Kraków, Tricity, Wrocław and Poznań.
International operations have also grown. Since December 2025, 17 new cross-border trains have been introduced, bringing the total to 57 international services per day, double the level of 2024.
The operator has implemented a cyclic timetable on key routes, including hourly services between Warsaw and Tricity and two-hourly intervals on several domestic and international corridors. Journey time between Warsaw and Szczecin has been reduced to 4 hours 9 minutes.
Between 2026 and 2030, PKP Intercity plans to invest more than EUR 4.7bn (PLN 20bn), primarily in rolling stock and technical facilities. Contracts with Polish manufacturers NEWAG, PESA Bydgoszcz and H. Cegielski – Fabryka Pojazdów Szynowych account for EUR 4.3bn (PLN 18.3bn).
Current production includes 300 new coaches, 42 double-deck multiple units and 35 hybrid multiple units for regional services. A tender is under way for high-speed trains with a maximum speed of 320 km/h.
In parallel, the company is investing EUR 800m (PLN 3.4bn) in maintenance infrastructure in Przemyśl, Warsaw, Lublin, Łódź, Gdynia, Białystok and Kraków, including a new locomotive depot in Warsaw and facilities for double-deck trains.
Wi-Fi is available on all electric multiple units and 70% of coaches. Advance ticket sales have been extended to 120 days for domestic EIP and EIC services and 180 days for international trains.
In 2025, 943,000 passengers with disabilities used PKP Intercity services, up 10% year on year, including 58,000 wheelchair users, an increase of 29%. Eighty per cent of trains are equipped for passengers with reduced mobility.
Further developments in 2026 include a pilot on-board self-check-in system, the launch of Pendolino services to Ustka, additional trains to Masuria and the commissioning of a new maintenance facility in Przemyśl.
