CP – Comboios de Portugal has taken delivery of the second unit from its order of 22 Stadler FLIRT regional multiple units, the first configured as a fully electric train.
The fleet will be integrated into CP’s 2700 series and is intended for operation across Portugal’s regional network. The bi-mode units are equipped for both electric and diesel traction, while the electric units operate exclusively under overhead supply.
The new trains have a maximum speed of 160 km/h. They are fitted with onboard Wi-Fi, power sockets, and dedicated areas for passengers with reduced mobility and for bicycles.
Technical testing and certification procedures are under way to ensure compatibility with national infrastructure. Entry into service of the first units is scheduled for the second half of 2026.
