The units deployed on the China–Laos Railway run at a maximum speed of 160 km/h.

The number of daily international passenger trains operating between Kunming, China, and Vientiane, Laos, has increased to four with the addition of a new pair of services. The trains are operated with CRRC-built Fuxing electric multiple units configured as power-concentrated sets.
