Ferrocarril del Pacífico S.A. (FEPASA) has signed a new long-term contract with Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado (EFE), securing rights to operate freight services on the Chilean state railway network for the next 23 years. The agreement confirms continuity of freight transport services and outlines operational access to EFE-owned infrastructure until 2048.
This move follows years of cooperation between FEPASA and EFE, both publicly and commercially, on corridors serving ports, industrial zones, and agricultural regions in central Chile. The contract is expected to maintain existing traffic and allow for future planning over a longer horizon.
FEPASA currently provides rail transport services to a range of clients, including bulk materials, containers, forestry products, and fuels. The agreement reinforces the framework under which the company will continue to manage rail freight services along key axes of the national rail network.
EFE, as the infrastructure manager and owner of the national railway network, retains oversight of track access and operational conditions. The agreement sets terms for FEPASA’s continued use of the infrastructure while aligning both entities under existing regulatory and technical guidelines.
