The project, co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility and the European Investment Bank, will allow up to 15 freight trains per day to pass through, compared to six previously.

Ukrzaliznytsia has completed a project for the relocation of the border checkpoint for trains to the Mostyska II railway station, close to the Ukrainian-Polish border in the Lviv region. The Connecting Europe Facility and the European Investment Bank co-financed the project on a parity basis.

„We continue to accelerate Ukraine's progress towards the EU. This is why we are building and improving our border infrastructure. By moving the border inspection point for trains to Mostyska II station, we will be able to double the capacity of this area. Previously, 6 freight trains could be checked here per day, but now it will be up to 15. This means new opportunities to increase freight traffic and speed up passenger trains,“ said Oleksandr Pertsovsky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.

Before the implementation of this project, border control of trains traveling from Ukraine to Poland was carried out at Mostyska - State Border, and the average control time for one train was almost two hours.

The reconstruction of the checkpoint included the construction of 4 towers for the inspection of rolling stock by the Border Guard Service of Ukraine, 2 modules (one and two storeys) for border control officers, 4 kennels for service dogs, installation of a video surveillance system (30 cameras) and Wi-Fi coverage, and modernization of the overhead line sectionalization system.
