Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is committed to making sustainable logistics a reality and has adopted rail freight for 26% of its domestic vehicle dispatches in 2024. The company saved 18,352 tons of CO2 emissions by moving 1,56,724 units on rail. One of the biggest feats was the fact that HMIL shifted to 100% rail dispatches of its North-East region consignments, reiterating its commitment to eco-friendly practices.
At Hyundai, sustainability is not just a goal but a core value, said Tarun Garg, COO of HMIL. "The partnership with Indian Railways not only minimizes carbon emissions but also offers efficient pan-India delivery. While India continues to modernize its rail infrastructure, we're committed to reducing our carbon footprint further and driving meaningful environmental change.
Hyundai has dispatched 5,37,499 units from 2021 to 2024 and thus saved an impressive 63,452 tons of CO2 emissions. HMIL follows in tune with India's evolving rail freight system to set a new benchmark in green transportation and demonstrate well how innovation combined with sustainability can thrive together.
