The Panther Shuttle will offer five weekly connections in each direction, providing forwarders and shipping companies with an efficient link between the Adriatic and Eastern Europe.

The first direct rail service between Graz, Austria and Koper, Slovenia, has been launched by Tailwind Intermodal, the new rail subsidiary of the German supermarket chain Lidl. Five direct connections per week in each direction are offered to forwarders and shipping companies by the Panther Shuttle.

“Thanks to its geographical location between the Adriatic and the Baltic, the Graz freight terminal, in conjunction with the port of Koper, forms an ideal connection to Eastern and Southeastern Europe. With the direct train connection between these strategically ideally located freight centers, we are establishing ourselves as an intermodal service provider for everyone who has containers transported between the Mediterranean and Eastern and Southeastern Europe,” commented Christian Steindl, Vice President of Tailwind Intermodal.

As a sister company of TAILWIND Shipping Lines, which calls at the Adriatic port of Koper, Tailwind Intermodal is also responsible for container onward carriage to the hinterland and the return to Koper.

Both companies enhance supply chains between China and Europa by combining sea freight and on-land freight. Tailwind Intermodal has big plans for the future; “For the course of the coming year, we plan to increase the frequency between Graz and Koper,” emphasized Christian Steindl.
