In a major move to improve freight transport efficiency and environmental sustainability, Be Modal has launched a new intermodal train service between Rennes and Lille. This strategic development promises to reshape the logistics landscape for companies in the Brittany region, offering a seamless link to a wide range of maritime services, particularly to Africa, from the busy Port of Antwerp.
At a time when environmental considerations are paramount, the Be Modal initiative stands out. The service significantly reduces CO2 emissions, by around 80% per wagon on the Rennes-Lille route. This feat is achieved by using 100% battery-powered locomotives, demonstrating Be Modal's commitment to green logistics. This rail solution also reduces road congestion, contributing to a more sustainable transport ecosystem.
The new service starts with a train connection from Rennes to Lille, followed by a smooth transition to Antwerp via Danser barge. This multimodal approach not only ensures the efficient movement of goods but also caters for a wide variety of freight types. Be Modal's versatile wagons are designed to accommodate any container size or swap body, including those requiring refrigerated transport.
In line with the needs of the freight industry, the service operates three times a week from Rennes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with return trips from Lille on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This schedule ensures a regular and reliable service, which is essential to maintain the fluidity of the supply chain.
