VPI European Rail Service GmbH (VERS) is a specialized service company based in Hamburg, Germany, operating within the European rail freight sector. Founded in 2019, VERS was established to support the international application and further development of the VPI European Maintenance Guide (VPI-EMG), a widely recognized standard for the maintenance of freight wagons.

The company focuses on providing digital solutions, technical coordination, and expert services related to wagon maintenance, ensuring harmonized processes across Europe. Through the VPI-EMG platform, VERS supports railway undertakings, wagon keepers, ECMs, and workshops by offering structured maintenance modules, technical documentation, and continuous updates aligned with European regulations and industry best practices.

VERS operates under the umbrella of the VPI – Association of Private Freight Wagon Owners in Germany, which represents more than 300 member companies and a fleet of over 88,000 freight wagons. The VPI-EMG is currently used by more than 600 companies in around 28 European countries, underlining the strong international relevance of VERS.
