The FastTrack service, which enables rail freight transport orders, is now also available for flat cars. In addition to the already established central locations, it is now also offered at the Senftenberg and Hagen Gbf (freight terminal) rail nodes. One set of five flat wagons is now available at each of these stations and can be booked online round the clock to handle transport orders.
“Besides adding to the attractive locations we serve, we have now also added flat wagons to the container carriers already available for our premium service,” commented Thomas Dittmann, Head of Digital Products at VTG.
The four-axle flat car Rens is designed especially for the transport of heavy goods, products for the steel industry, and prefabricated parts. It is ideal for the transport of bulk consignments and building materials for the construction of railways.
In the shape of FastTrack VTG also provides block trains with 90' container carriers for ad-hoc transport orders to and from the Port of Hamburg. All 22 90' container carriers are on standby at the Hamburg Port Authority's premises and customers can book a block train with a capacity of 88 TEU at any time of the day or night.
VTG is planning to further expand its services and aims to introduce new facilities at key German rail nodes in 2023. One of the aims of this low-threshold service is to introduce more flexible use of freight wagons on demand.
