The success of CZ LOKO’s deep modernisation of the numerous Class 742 diesel locomotives continues. Most recently, the first EffiShunter 1000M locomotive for ČD appeared on rails.
The locomotive received a new Class 743.2. Although they are very similar to the numerous locomotives of the same type at ČD Cargo (Class 742.71), they are already equipped with ETCS L2 OBU from CAF and DC pockets for charging the passenger cars. The purpose of these locomotives is shunting in stations, usage during power outages on electrified lines, and transfers of units and cars on lines that require ETCS equipment.
There are currently 14 Class 742 locomotives at ČD, all of which will undergo modernisation. From the old locomotives, only the underframe and bogies remain; everything else is new on this locomotive.
There is already a second locomotive nearing completion too. The first two 743.2 locomotives will be seen around Brno and Bohumín.
