Green Cargo has become one of the first lessees of the newly-delivered Vectron locomotives for Alpha Trains aimed at the Scandinavian market.

The Swedish state-owned rail freight carrier is making its fleet younger. By signing a long-term agreement with Luxembourg-based rolling stock leasing company Alpha Trains, Green Cargo will get five Siemens Vectron AC locomotives.

With a maximum speed of 200 km/h, they are approved for operations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, and Austria. For Alpha Trains, this is the first full-service lease agreement for Vectrons in Scandinavia.

With such rolling stock, Green Cargo can expand its international traffic from southern Sweden through Denmark to Germany and back. The scheduled delivery of these locomotives is already in 2023. The long-term full-service agreement will cover maintenance needs in the recently-opened Siemens Mobility Rail Service Center in Malmö.
